Where every unique piece fits.
In a mosaic, beauty is found in the contrast of individual tiles—each unique shape, color, and texture is essential to the whole.
At Mosaic Micro School, we believe education should work the same way.
We have cultivated a secular, neuro-affirming, and identity-inclusive community where differences aren’t just accepted—they are the foundation of our strength. By combining a global perspective with deep creative exploration, we provide a space where students can belong and can thrive.
Our Core Pillars
Identity-Inclusive: Honoring Every Story
Our community is a reflection of the real world. We honor and uplift all family structures and identities, ensuring that every student sees themselves reflected in our curriculum and feels a deep, unwavering sense of belonging.
Global Lens: Discovering Our Shared Threads
We look beyond borders to find the common humanity that connects us all.
We help students understand their place in a vibrant, multicultural world.
Cultivating Learners: Mastering the Creative Cycle
We move beyond rote memorization to teach the "how" of learning. Our students are empowered to find information, experiment with ideas, iterate through failures, and confidently present their discoveries to the world.
Neuro-Affirming: Celebrating the Way We Think
We don't just "accommodate" different brains; we celebrate them. By recognizing that there is no "standard" way to learn, we create a space where neurodivergent students are understood, supported, and empowered to use their unique cognitive strengths.
A Day at Mosaic
Our schedule balances focused academic rigor with the freedom to move, play, and create.
Our school year will align closely with Carlisle School District’s scheduled days off, but will start August 31 through end of May.
Our day runs 9:30-3pm, Monday to Thursday.
Limited part time morning spots available, 9:30-12 (includes Unit Study, Lunch, and Playground)
Morning Welcome, Connect & Circle
9:30-10:00 AM
As students arrive, we will ease into our day together with a gentle invitation or art project and then gather together to talk about our plan for the day and read a story.
Morning Explorations (Unit Studies):
10:00-11:30 AM
Unit studies are cross-curricular, project-based studies that are designed for multi-age learning.
Mondays & Tuesdays: Geography and Culture Unit Studies-
We will explore the world and our relationship to it by:
Diving into global art, music, and culinary traditions.
Comparing how children around the world live, play, and learn.
Exploring maps, terrain, and animals around the world.
Wednesdays: Science explorations-
In this hands-on block, students transform into investigators as they dive into the "why" and "how" of the world around them. Rather than just reading about theories, children engage in experiments test hypotheses, build models, observe patterns, and solve problems through trial and error.
Thursday: Curiosity Club
In this student-led block, learners choose a monthly question or topic to explore in-depth. We guide them through a professional creative cycle:
Inquiry: Defining the big question.
Research: Gathering information and sources.
Iteration: Drafting, testing, and refining ideas.
Presentation: Sharing their findings with the group.
Lunch & Play: The Brain Break
11:30-1:00
We believe movement is essential and that children learn through open ended play. During this block, students will eat lunch and recharge at the playground, in our studio, or by exploring downtown Carlisle.
Note: Some of this time will be used for transitions, bathroom breaks, changing into outside clothes if needed, and walking ~15 mins to and from a playground.
Morning-only students will get picked up at noon, most days at the playground.
Afternoons: The Academic Core
1:00-3:00
Afternoons: The Academic Core
We’ll head back to the studio for focused Math & ELA at individual level. Guided by a certified elementary teacher, students will dive into core subjects at their own pace working in small group and 1:1.
We keep engagement high through:
Novel Studies: Reading and discussing engaging literature together.
Game-Based Learning: Reinforcing concepts through play.
Storytelling: Developing creative writing and expression.
Finding the Right Sensory Fit
We are a neuro-affirming community that recognizes every child has unique sensory needs. To ensure all our students feel regulated and "at home," we maintain an intentional sensory balance throughout the school day.
Mosaic is a wonderful fit for students who thrive in:
Calm & Predictable Settings: Our small, intimate environment is designed for a steady, low-sensory pace.
Purposeful Movement: While we’ve left traditional desks behind, our indoor time centers on gentle movement (using sensory swings or comfy seating) rather than high-energy "big body" play.
Respectful Soundscapes: We support diverse auditory needs—like using headphones for music or noise cancellation—while maintaining a quiet, focused atmosphere in the studio.
Supporting the Whole Group Because we are a small community, we best support students who can maintain a calm body while indoors. We head outside daily for "big body" movement and loud play, but our indoor blocks are reserved for focused, quiet-body engagement.
Our Goal: To ensure one student’s sensory expression doesn't unintentionally infringe on another’s need for a calm, regulated workspace.
We are currently accepting applications for students ready to learn, create, and belong.
